Many Textbooks Distort Religion
I read an article on how many History textbooks distort Religion. this is from Secular source even.
Here's a couple quotes and the Link to the Article A "true or false" question on the origins of Christianity asserted that "Christianity was started by a young Palestinian named Jesus." The teacher's edition says this is "true." . . part of the problem is that publishers employ or contract with writers who are not experts in the subject, or they may use out-of-date information. Or they may bow to special interest groups. "They're under pressure from all kinds of minority groups, religious groups, and they try to satisfy everyone and that results in content that is dumbed down to the lowest common denominator," he said. "And so, in that process, things can be missed. Errors can survive." "Islam has a privileged position," he said. "It's not critiqued or criticized or qualified, whereas Judaism and Christianity are." One example is in the glossary of "World History: Continuity and Change." It calls the Ten Commandments "moral laws Moses claimed to have received from the Hebrew God," while the entry for the Koran contains no such qualifier in saying it is the "Holy Book of Islam containing revelations received by Muhammad from God." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,506773,00.html |

That's a good point Bro Chette, the world will always attempt to run down the teachings of the Bible any time they get a chance, and the double standards they use are simply amazing.

Well it seems our Government wont let Chrisitan Schools teach only Creation but insist they teach evolution also and want Christians schools to conform to a secular level of education.
But what is good for Christians is not the same for the Islamic Schools in the country. they are given freedom to teach their religious views while Chistian Schools are not. Check our this link where Islamic Schools are allowed to change history and other books to fit their religious purposes. while they face criticism over the changes will they be forsed to conform or just left totheir own devices. while Chrisitnas schools have been forcefully closed and children forced to ppublic educational system. they are no where near treating the Moslem Schools in the same manner http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009...ces-criticism/ |

Most people do not know that Palestine, or the Palestinians is neither a country or people, but rather a geographical area. Jesus was not a Palestinian, as the name "Palestine" did not exist until centuries after Christ. The name came from the Roman Emperor Hadrian who named the area "Provincia Syria Palaestina", later shortened to Palestina.
And most do not know that the term Palestinians originally meant Jews, not Arabs or Muslims. It was Britain that drew up the political boundaries of the Middle East just after WWI. Originally, the Palestine Mandate gave land south to Egypt and Saudi Arabia, north to Syria, and eastward to Iraq to the "Palestinians" which meant the Jews. This would have included the modern country of Jordan. After much protest, Britain gave approximately 22% of the land for the Jews, which was on the west side of the Jordan River. The remaining approximately 78% was given to the Arab Palestinians on the eastern side of the Jordan. This was called "Trans-Jordan", now simply called Jordan. This agreement was signed by all 61 members of the League of Nations, and later by the United Nations as well. So both Israel and Jordan are nations by international law. In fact, Jordan officially became a nation 2 years before Israel. So, the Palestinians (Arab Palestinians) already have a homeland and have since 1946. Here are the original borders of the Palestine Mandate. Last edited by Winman; 03-21-2009 at 11:02 AM. |

Here is the preamble of the Palestine Mandate showing that originally Palestinians meant Jews.
