I believe that God is "done" with America - we are all "washed up" with Him. As a country, you cannot: kill 50 million unborn children; embrace the Sodomite agenda; take away parents rights over their children; suppress the truth (The Bible) in the "government schools"; refuse to execute killers, rapists, child molesters, and their ilk; refuse to punish evil doers; and wholeheartedly embrace the anti-God, anti Christian, anti-Bible religion of Atheistic Humanism, without God judging us. ...
You don't see Paul trying to "change" the Pagan Roman system, or trying to "fight" Caesar. It's obvious that he knew Roman Law, and used it for his advantage, but to obsess over these things is a grave error. We are not called to be "Christian Patriots" - we are called to be "Ambassadors for Christ"!
Yep, I agree too, brother. I'd 'Amen' you, but it's a terrible thing to want to 'amen'.

There's so much going on right now, and so many Christians are up in arms, trying to 'do' something to fix America. It's not fixable, the Lord said that evil men would wax worse and worse, not get better!

So, we should let everyone know about the Lord Jesus Christ, and try to lead as many as we can to Him, before it is too late for them.

Our 'Founding Fathers' may not have done that which was the perfect will of God. Check this out: "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." (Proverbs 29:2)

It says 'the people mourn', it does not say 'the people rebel'.

BTW, you are welcome to come on down, anytime, brother! My husband (dh) and I made the trek from New England to the Carolinas twenty years ago. I don't want to go back nor do I believe we made a mistake.

And I'm a Buckeye by birth, too.

Well, sister, don't worry. There's hope for the vilest!

I'm not saying it was the Biblical thing to do, though I thank God for my country every time I think about it. I'm saying that according to our Founding Documents, secession is dutiful as a patriot. Of course that's not rebellion; the South was not in rebellion, they simply tried to leave the United States. Of course, good ol' Commie Lincoln wouldn't let that happen, and while I think God kept the US together to further His plan, the South was 100% right in trying to leave the Union.

I was born in Texas and raised in Missouri...I currently think of myself as a sojourner.

I found this quote on the Texas League of the South website:

"The withdrawal of a State from a league has no revolutionary or insurrectionary characteristic. The government of the State remains unchanged as to all internal affairs. It is only its external or confederate relations that are altered. To term this action of a Sovereign a "rebellion" is a gross abuse of language."

Yes, it was. Your statement of history is accurate. I wish the Confederacy had won.

But, as the Christian Robert E. Lee acknowledged, that was not God's plan. And now that we're so close to the end, I can't believe that it's His will for us to get enmeshed in rebellion and defiance. Romans 12 is still in the Scripture, and to disregard it is to invite the chastening of God.

I don't like saying these things. I've been a patriot all my life. But I'm a Christian first: and I will not wrestle against flesh and blood. God has given us very specific information about who the real enemy is, and it's not the petty tyrants and bureaucrats in Washington!

As an Ex Barry Goldwater Conservative from the 60's and a genuine Bible believer from 1968 - I am in complete agreement with you!

I agree with your comments about McCain (who I was not going to vote for ("on principle" - until Palin), but I am not going to labor under any false "delusions" that seceding from the Union will "solve" anything.

If God is done with us as a country (something that I do not relish or look forward to ), then, outside of voting, praying, and continuing to witness as "ambassadors' for Christ" and living our lives for Christ - we might actually find ourselves fighting against Almighty God!

Paul speaks about himself as being: "the prisoner of Jesus Christ" [Ephesians 3:1; Philemon 1:1,9]. Now I doubt that Paul was "happy" about being Caesar's prisoner (I doubt that he would have thanked Caesar for tossing him in jail ), but instead of trying to break out of "Jail" or starting a "revolution", Paul figured this must be God's will" for his life and he did the best that he could with it.

I thank God for our country, but it's nowheres near the country that it was when I was born (1940), and I cannot conceive of anything that would bring it back to what it once was, with the exception of the direct "intervention" of Almighty God Himself.

Barring a miracle of God, I believe the "drift" towards the secular religion of Humanism in America may soon turn into a "rushing torrent"; and this all may be part of God's plan.

If this is so, then the freedoms, and liberties, and "rights" that we have enjoyed all of these years may soon "disappear" under a "perceived mandate" of the electorate (the "majority" is never right in Scripture) to a Democratic super majority in Congress; a Socialistic (Communist "Lite") President; and a Federal (and State) Judiciary that has seized unlawful (Unconstitutional) power and has "subverted" our system of government {based on Judeo-Christian precepts and principles} so that we are now actually living under a system of government known as an "OLIGARCHY" - where a very small minority of "unelected" Judges basically decide what is, and is not "Lawful", and who in essence have supplanted the "Rule of Law" with the "Rule of Men" (HUMANISM! ).

Does anyone honestly believe that there is anything that we can do (in the flesh) to prevent this from happening - if this all part of God's plan? I've already voted (for you know who), because I don't want my country to join the trash heap of history. On the other hand, I don't believe it would be right for me to support Obama and his ilk, in order to "help" bring about the demise of my country. {"It's not right to do wrong, in order to have a chance to do right"}

It's a dilemma we all must face (who to vote for), but I believe that, all too soon, we all may be faced with a testing and proving (as many of God's saints have undergone in the past) that none of us will be able to stand up under, unless God strengthens us and upholds us with the power of His might.

In view of all of the above, I also believe that God is gathering together genuine Bible believers from all over the world (through this Forum and others like it), so that we might comfort, succor, support, and pray for one another. I do not believe that this Forum replaces or supplants the Church of God, but there just aren't that many genuine Bible believing churches left, and so I believe that God is using this Forum as a means of encouraging the saints to continue on and not get discouraged.

Psalms 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

If this be the case for my country - then we all must go on and:

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

God bless you, Brother George. I was encouraged by your post.

And I agree with what you said, aside from the fact that I'm about twenty years younger.

I'll second that! Thank you brother George!

Just out of curiosity, since I'm completely ignorant concerning politics, what was it about Palin that changed your thought process?

Peace and Love,
Stephen

She espouses conservative values I've not seen since Reagan.

And, she's not a polished politician, she's 'folks'.

In other words, she's what we need more of in Washington, a breath of fresh (Alaskan) air!

FWIW, I like Mike Huckabee, too, and not because he's a Baptist.
