What computer you choose is hardly an issue worthy of true argument.

BTW, you can run Windows software on your Mac with Crossover. I hear from my users that it works well for SwordSearcher. So, any computer you can run SwordSearcher on is good enough in my book.

Believe it or not, I've never used a Mac, so I had to vote for PC.

Ever hear this one?

Bill Gates- If I made automobiles, I would make them so inexpensive and affordable that everyone in the world could own one!

Lee Iacocca- Yes, but who wants an automobile that crashes twice a day?

BTW, I believe we've had this conversation at least twice already.... Has it been at least 6 months from the last time? I think we have to wait at least another 2 months?
It's along the lines of the 'Calvinist' or 'Baptist' battle.

We all know Mac is the truth for PC work.

This thread has probably existed on every forum across the Internet, lol!

I was just thinking: "The PC guy looks like a baptist preacher.." right before I read Brother Tim's response!! lol!!!

In case folks here don't know, I work in IT, everything from servers to workstations, and all manners of software in between.
I personally own PCs, but have had a few macs along the way, although never a macbook or Apple laptop. I happen to have a really slick HP-TX1218 tablet PC, which is way cooler than any macbook, the only problem is it came with Vista, and only vista drivers for all of its toy features.

From a professional standpoint, all IT guys hate Microsoft platforms, but still, you can get more done in a PC environment, and you have control over it too. When people know what they're doing with Windows, a: they don't run vista and b: they tweak the machines to perfection.
I have a monster desktop with great specs, and like every desktop I've ever had running xp or 2k, they never crash. I get no errors whatsoever, and I have NO antivirus either. One just has to know how to setup and use a Windows machine.

Now people that are really in the know run a linux flavor on another machine, often their daily-use machine, or their home server. I play with different linuxes on another laptop, but since I never learned to code or really get into unix, I'm stuck at the user-level. Still tho, only in open-source does the ability to smartly compute (2Tim2:15, lol) become available.

One other thing, how did PC get 1004 votes when there are only 485 registered members on this forum?

Wow, that's some pretty broad generalizing!

My weapon of choice is the Commodore 128 with 512 k ram module. NEVER has it crashed on me. It's not fitting into Bill Gate's monopolistic practices, I am cursed to use PCs due to their availability.

Comparing Macs to PCs(with MS OS, not Linux) is like comparing the 2009 Dodge Challengers to a VW. Mac's are however priced beyond the common man's reach, but when my financial situation changes, my next NEW computer will be a Macbook or a G5. I had an older Mac that ran OS8. You could not crash it. I have an Apple II and the one with the monitor and everything built in also.

I am running 32 bit Windows 98 and refuse to upgrade. I see no reason to upgrade to the M-16 since I can do the same damage with an M-1 Garand. Nowhere is the concept of planned obsolescence more blatant than with computer software.

If I have my druthers give me a Mac G-5 and leave me alone.

Grace and peace

Tony
