Not sure what animism has to do with idols and devils. I can assure you that devils are either 'around' or 'in' most idols. I don't claim to be able to see them. I just know that they are there, and at least two times they've attacked me while I slept. I, like you, don't believe a saved person can be possessed. I do, however, believe they have ways of intererfering with us. I was still quite young when I had those encounters. Perhaps they were just trying to scare me. They did indeed scare me, but my fear and trust in God is stronger. I knew, both times, the only thing I could do was plead for the intercession of Almighty God, and both times when I said, "in Jesus' name I pray." whatever was holding me down stopped.
