What Great Commission are you speaking of Beth?
Matthew 28:19, 20 be careful because Jesus commanded to the Apostles and the jewish hearers to do many things we can not and Mt 28:19,20 tells to observe all things what so ever I have commanded you. that commission is not directed to us. however we are to witness Paul was quite clear on that. |

Context determines the meaning of Matthew 28:18-20 (Mark 16:16-18, etc.). However, I see no problem in using Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, and Acts 1:8 in my sermons, provided doctrines are cleared up first before devotions. Taking these passages in the doctrinal sense will surely lead us to the heresy of fake healings and unknown tongues in this age.
I believe the church's great commission is found in 2 Cor. 5:14-21. Each Christian ("any man be in Christ") has been commissioned ("committed unto us the ministry of reconciliation") to plead ("in Christ stead") to THE WORLD "Oh, be ye reconciled!" |
