I like crushed pineapple in vanilla yogurt, but that's not really an oddity. I think you can even buy it that way now.

Anyone remember putting roasted/salted nuts in soda back in high school? THAT used to gross me out when I saw my friends do it. And in the South, we have this disgusting creation called *boiled peanuts*.... ick, ugh, yuck (shudder).

LOL! I'm a transplanted Yankee, been in the South for twenty years, and have yet to even 'try' boiled peanuts, or, possibly worse, peanuts in RC Cola...

But, oh, the joys of NC BBQ! Woo hoo!!!!

I've never tried boiled peanuts; I guess sojourning in the wilderness north of the Mason Dixon deprives ya' of the good things in life.

*laments his north-ness*

I was referring to Rightful(??)_Thinking(not). He obviously is corrupted in some way, claiming to be southern, yet speaking ill of one of our culinary gems. You, HAI, are an unlearned alien, and therefore cannot be blamed. You are only a victim of false legume doctrine.

Rightful_Thinking is 100% female.

(Otherwise, I'm sure I'd have been tossed out of here earlier after referencing a *husband*).

Guess I need to add one of those gender-specific avatar thingies.

Well, I am so sorry, ma'am!

I have just exposed my male chauvinist pig brain for all to see!

With the "thinking" part of your name, I just assumed... whups!

Would you like a shovel to dig that hole a wee bit deeper?

Seriously though ... no apologies necessary ... I just burst upon the scene without making an introduction of anykind anyway.

Reaching out from the gloom and doom of post-election dispair, I found this site. Ya'll have been a God-send (literally).

That isn't strange. 50% coffee and 50% milk is called a Cafe au Lait and is a French drink that has been around for a long time. Italy, Spain, Poland, Portugal, and other parts of Europe all have a name for "Coffee & Milk". Our son enjoys a decaf cafe au lait on cold mornings.

They sold boiled peanuts at the grocery store in Hawaii and I remember my Mom making them sometimes. I've seen roasted peanuts (we have a lot of those steakhouses with the peanut shells on the floor around here), but no boiled peanuts since we moved and we're pretty southern I think.
