I think they taste ok. I don't see anything wrong with reading them anyway. Like what was already said, it's not witchcraft, divination, or anything of the sort. It always just goofy sayings, which I usually find quite funny lol

Josh, you have been caught in the web of deceit. Your tongue has lost its discernment.

I've never actually received a fortune. I always either get proverbs or dumb proverbs.

"A cookie in the hand is worth one in the belly"

"A penny saved is a penny that could buy more food"

"Saving money helps you achieve your goals! Dream Big!"

Stupid things like that. I'd have a hard time considering those "fortunes" since they are either "stupid" or "bleeding obvious".

Exactly. I've yet to see one that actually resembles a fortune.

I think anything that makes jest of divination is sinful. I've read dozens of fortune cookies in my life (I used to work at an asian food restaurant). Most of them read something along the lines "You will <recieve/do/have> something <sometime>." I don't think this is a joke. I'm telling ya, my spirit is not ok with this stuff, and this is coming from someone that used to be deeply involved with the heavy occult.

Also, "magic" 8 balls? Is that really even appropriate for a "Christian" forum? Do you think Jesus would approve of His soldiers entertaining such things? I think not.

Seriously... *sigh*

For Jesus' sake,
Stephen

I don't think either of these has anything to do with ouija boards. Even if fortune cookies do have such statements, I still don't believe it has anything to do with witchcraft. Magic 8 Balls are simply a water filled ball with a piece of plastic on the inside.

I suppose to each his own concience though.

I think that the sin isn't in eating the horrible-tasting cookie, nor what the silly scrap of paper may or may not say. Its not wether some witchcraft went into their production, or if some hindu blessed your meal before it came to your table.
The area of sin for the Christian is that we entertain that fleeting desire to see if this time the thing written on the scrap of paper is actually true.
It demonstrates a desire to know if something other than God Almighty can predict the futur, and that falls right back into devination.

Like Xmas trees and 'Christian' rock music, ecumenism or hellywood's TV/movies, one tries to argue that since the Christian doesn't take it that way, then it isn't that way, but that never changes what it is, only changes us through compromise.
