I agree with you Scott. We should all speak the truth in love. Love does not make us weak or soft, it proves we are the true disciples of Christ.

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" (John 13:34-35).

By the way, I simply believe the Word which was given to the Apostle Paul, for example, was preserved by God and is in my possession via the King James Bible. That is why I use it.

The AV1611 site provides many good resources to help someone decide this issue.

The NIV reads, "Who, being in very nature God, DID NOT CONSIDER EQUALITY WITH GOD something to be grasped,".
There is the Deity Of Christ being changed, in fact the word "Godhead" does not exist in the NIV

LUKE 2:33
"And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." The NIV reads, "The CHILD'S FATHER and mother marveled at what was said about him."
There goes the virgin Birth.

LUKE 11:2-4 KJV
1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

The NIV Reads
2 He said to them, When you pray, say:
Father, (where is this father?)
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come. (where is this kingdom?)
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation." (no deliverance from evil?)
The difference removes all the distinctions between God and satan.

Matthew 18:11
For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

While on the surface the NIV and modern versions may "appear" to preach the same message they almost certainly dont.
"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices." -2nd Corinthians 2:11

The Christ I put my faith in was Born of A Virgin, is a member of the Godhead no question! In the NIV if Jesus is not portrayed as a member of the Godhead or born of a virgin then its not Jesus Christ, its another christ.
The NIV is a translation that was written to keep "men" happy, the word of God was changed into a lie because men interpreted scripture to suit their own desires.
God HAD to preserve his Word for EVERY Generation, If its not the KJV then tell me which Bible it is? and ill start using that one.

As you have the KJV/NIV parallel, I would ask you to consider the following sample of words that are ommited from the NIV
Matt. 6:13, "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."
Matt. 15:8, "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth"
Matt. 19:9, "and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery."
Matt. 20:7, "and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive."
Matt. 20:16, "for many be called, but few chosen."
Matt. 20:22, "and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with"
Matt. 25:13, "wherein the Son of Man cometh."
Matt. 27:35, "that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet They parted my garments among them and upon my vesture did they cast lots"
Mark 6:11, "Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."
Mark 10:21, "take up the cross."
Luke 1:28, "blessed art thou among women"
Luke 4:4, "but by every word of God"
Luke 4:8, "get thee behind me Satan"
Luke 4:18, "he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted"
Luke 11:2-4, "Our ... which art in ... Thy will be done, as in heaven so in earth... but deliver us from evil"
John 1:27, "is preferred before me"
John 3:13, "which is in heaven"
John 3:15, "should not perish"
John 11:41, "from the place where the dead was laid"
John 16:16, "because I go to the Father"
Acts 10:6, "he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do"
Acts 15:18, "Known unto God are all his works"
Acts 20:24, "But none of these things move me"
Acts 23:9, "let us not fight against God"
Rom. 8:1, "who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit"
Rom. 13:9, "Thou shalt not bear false witness"
I Cor. 6:20, "and in your spirit which are God's"
I Cor. 11:24; "Take eat... broken"
II Cor. 10:4, "but mighty through God"
Gal. 3:1, "that you should not obey the truth"
Eph. 5:30, "of his flesh, and of his bones"
Phil. 3:16, "let us mind the same thing"
I Tim. 6:5, "from such wthdraw thyself"
Heb. 7:21, "after the order of Melchisedec"
I Pet. 1:22, "through the Spirit"
I Pet. 4:14, "on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified"
I John 4:3, "Christ is come in the flesh"
I John 5:13, "and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God"
Rev. 1:11, "I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last"
Rev. 5:14, "him that liveth for ever and ever"
Rev. 14:5, "before the throne of God"
Rev. 21:24, "of them which are saved"

The above is a sample, the NIV butchers its way through God's word from start to finish. It is preaching another christ to people that do not want to be convicted of willfull sin and blatant error. Hopefully the sampling I have shown you in regards to the 4 Gospels may open your eyes to the "subtle" deception that is the NIV.
Good stuff, brother.

Love is in every one of my posts, the love of Christ and the love of his body. I do not wish to see anyone that is a child of God to be misled by satan, I desire with all my heart that Christ leads rbratt into the truth of God's preserved word, and if in my post's there appears to be a lack of Love, then this is merely appearance because my heart is full of Love and I can safely say that every member that stands for the KJV as God's preserved word from this generation....forever, thinks along the same lines.
Before the KJV the common man did not have a bible to posses, so God, through King James and his translators gave "us" common man, a preserved, english Bible. That Bible has stood the test of time and revival over almost 400 years, why now in the last 100 must we change it? It is changed for one purpose and one purpose only, apostasy. satan has been counterfeiting God's work and his word since his fall and will continue to do so until Christ's return.
With over 200 versions of the bible since the 1800's Doctrine has been subtly changed, salvation has been subtly changed. I remember a preacher speaking about how in the Federal reserve how the men who were employed to check for counterfeiting were trained, rather than taking all the forgeries and studying them, they were given a pure bill, and made to study that one bill only so that when they came across a counterfeit, they immediately knew the difference, this practice is no different in regards to the Bible, read the Pure words of the KJV and spot the counterfeits a mile off.

peopleoftheway and Scott,

Thank you for the posts. I appreciate the info.

I am going to go through the parallel Bible I have at home, when I get back from Chicago. I will reference this thread. Actually there are quite a few very good links on the this site's home page as well. Just because I am skeptical doesn't mean I am against you. We are told to test to see if what we hear is from God. Some of us just need more test I guess.

In my time reading the NIV exclusively (which I did for a while) I was never under the impression that Christ wasn't born of a virgin. That line now has my attention and will look closely at it. However I do think that if you look at a certain work (the NIV for instance) in a slanted (good or bad) light you can make mountains of molehills.

The Godhead quote for example didn't change the meaning of the verse to me. I understood the Message (the same way you laid it out from the KJV) from reading the NIV. To be honest though, the Trinity is a whole seperate topic for me. Which I will fully investigate more, and don't need to get into here.

Rbratt,

do like I did. go to the KJV not to find errors but ask God to show you truths that you never found in the other versions. that way your heart is right when you go to the Holy Bible and the Lord will bless you for that true heart.

that what had convinced me. God showed me more truth and cleared up many questions as I read through the KJV for the first time. I have been in Love with God Book more and more and found my relationship with him and Christ has matured and developed into a deep loving experience.

No, see what you are not see, it is not the same message and certainly not God’s words, it is the divinations and sorceries, the bewitching that Satan is working. God’s message is that we should love one another. It is the words of God that you are not to diminished, change, or add too, why?
Because it lends to twisting of the truth, it is casting a spell, it is witchcraft, it is like a caldron of twisting and adding a little of this and little of that, it poisons the mind, heart and leads away in the apostasy, that will lead you away from loving one another.
Before you are done you are taking the mark and worshiping the antichrist.
If you want to mess with God’s words because you think it is the same message, you are of very dangerous ground, there are warning in the bible not to do it.

Quote:
So you are saying that the same message is a perversion as the one in the KJV? I really don't get that point of view. ??
It really is not a point of view, it is the truth, you need to get away from the message point of view and seek the truth on this subject. It is in plain site, check out the web site info, that is a great start.

Quote:
Look, I am not trying to argue. I am asking for someone to explain why (even though the message is the same) you are saying one is a perversion and the other isn't?
Again you need to get over the same message trick, it is overly simplistic to call the totality of God's word a message.

Quote:
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John's are the same message, right?
These four never contradicted each other. You see all these false arugements that you say you are not doing, but are doing is leading you away from the truth.

Quote:
If your argument holds true they should all be exact duplicates of each other. They aren't becasue Gods Word came into their hearts, they wrote it in the way that they understood it and it makes it easier for ALL MEN to understand now. How then can you say that a translation with the same message (and not all translations have the same message, do I agree) is a perversion?[/
So you see the message arguement you exspell is a divination in itself. Do not be bewitched.

Hi rbratt

Maybe I can add a little bit more scripture that might help you in your quest for the truth. Only once are we, as Christians instructed to study the scriptures. In the whole of the Bible it is the only passage that is telling us that if we rightly divide God's word with the help of the author himself then we will be led into truth. That passage is 2nd Timothy 2:15

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

"study" is removed from the niv, changed to (do your best?) not translated differently removed. Now somehow If modern versions are the word of God, they would at least include his ONLY commandment to study his written word? The reason is this, to study you would begin to notice the many many omissions of God's written word and to do so you would learn that the niv is a people pleasing book full of philosophy.

In regards to you not seeing the difference in Phillippians 2:6 another verse that attacks the deity of Christ is 1st Timothy 3:16 which states in the KJV that "GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH"; but the NIV waters it down to... he was revealed in a body. (who is He?)

As I quoted previously
"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices." -2nd Corinthians 2:11

The devil cannot get rid of God's word, but he can certainly try and change it in such a subtle way that the reader would never know the deception they are in, I pray that through our posts you may see the truth. I would post so much more against using the NIV bit I fear that too much information can stagnate the thinking process. May God bless your search for the truth and may he lead you into truth through his grace.
