Default You/your = singular or plural

*******
First we must acknowledge the truth of things in the pure holy Bible.
Ye is plural
Thee,thy thou are singular
You must be interpreted in context and is plural in scripture.
We all know of the royal we.
But even King James as a king did not always use the royal we.
When discussing his context with the Earl of Buckingham he uses the term I some three times in the first sentence that I happened on.

Is the word I now considered plural?
In the Bible..you and your are plural.
But in the preface it is used in the singular despite the attempt of the royal we syndrome by yourself.
But I do see your point.
When addressing royalty, one does say You/ and Your Majesty.
But plurality??? All of the cases of You and Your were singular in the preface.

A.V. Bible Preface
A REPRINT OF THE ORIGINAL PREFACE TO THE KING JAMES (AUTHORIZED) VERSION 1611

I see that they used "his majesty" making the example somewhat moot, even putting aside the plural of majesty discussion that followed. Is there another letter other than the Preface ?

Shalom,
Steven

Yes, Steven, there are many other letters. Not all addressed directly to the King himself but for the publick good.
Most of these are of a later date, but refer to earlier dates, including...
To Elisabeth
To King Edward
I will document the list in a bit.[with dates]

In the Oxford 1726 edition, [it includes the Book of Prayer] they are yet using the prayer with thanksgiving to be used yearly November 5th.for King James in the deliverance in the Gunpowder plot.
There is the memorial prayer of the martyrdom of King Charles and many other prayers, covering matrimony and men at sea.
It also includes the Translators to the Reader.
The Book of Prayer has the Preface Primo Elisabeth.
Some of the royal titles given here are...which include other notions of honour..
*******
Her Publick Liturgy
His Majesty,etc.
*******
My 1660 edition has only the typical "Great and manifold..."
*******
My 1612 edition has the beginning missing. It starts at Genesis title page.
*******
My 1558 Bishop's Bible contains only the Bible text.
*******
My William Whittingham 1557 New Testament has a few writings.
The Epistle by John Calvin
To the Reader
The Argument of the Gospel
This edition includes many marginal notes being the precursor to the Geneva Bible of 1560.
*******
There are many more, but this should suffice for now.
