Sorry for "duplicating" Forrest's answer in my previous post.
Let me further add this verse to the ones given by the brethren above: Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. The Father did not die on the cross. The Holy Spirit did not die on the cross. God sent His Son to die on the cross, and His Son is called "Jesus" for "he shall save his people from their sins; but all three have a part, and in Christ dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodly. Jesus called the Holy Spirit "the Holy Ghost", as well as "Comforter". On the cross, Jesus called God the Father, "Father", as well as "my God". The name "Jesus" then is exclusively of the Son of God. |
