Default Acts 13:20 450 Years

Can someone explain the reason of the different reading of this verse in Acts 13:20 and how I can defend the KJB reading? Clearly, the 450 years are being referred to a different time period in the new versions. Thanks for you help.
Tim

Act 13:20 And after that he gave [unto them] judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet. (KJB)

All this took about 450 years. “After this, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet. (NIV)
