The war we fight
We are at war. The Bible makes this clear:
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 2 Timothy 2 King James Bible But our war is not against human beings: 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6 King James Bible It is not God's intent that one person go to hell: 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Matthew 25 King James Bible Hell was not prepared for men, but for rebellious angels. Men on the other hand are always referred to as those for whom Christ died: 11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 1 Corinthians 8 King James Bible We must always remember that men who persecute and oppose us are those whom Christ loves. They are flesh and blood, just like us. Did Paul denounce and curse the soldiers who held him? No my brothers, HE CONVERTED THEM! The enemy hath said "yea, hath God said?" The man did not say this, but the enemy of men's minds. The same enemy we fight today. The Gospel is for men, and our battle is to fight for the minds of men. Christ did not take upon himself the form of an angel, but that of a man. Jesus Christ loves men, ALL MEN: "14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham." Hebrews 2 King James Bible What's the point of all this? Let me give you an analogy. Imagine that members of your family are kidnapped. And not only are they kidnapped, but they are brainwashed. Brainwashed to hate you and everyone else that loves them. Are they now your enemy? Of course not! The kidnappers are the enemy and your family are the victims. This is the battle we fight. We fight over MEN'S MINDS! Jesus loved them enough to die for them. Do we love them enough to fight for their minds? We should never forget who our enemy is, for they are not the people who visit this board and fight against us. These are simply the enemy's captives. So please let us treat them as we would if they were our family being held captive by an enemy. If they oppose themselves, they are a captive of the enemy, but they are NEVER the enemy: 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. 2 Timothy 2 King James Bible Last edited by johnlf; 07-07-2009 at 07:35 PM. |
